These are the best 8 cafes with rice terrace views in Ubud. You can have lunch, sip your coffee or simply enjoy some of the most stunning views in Ubud.

My Favorite Spots: Where to Find the Best Rice Terrace Views in Ubud

When I talk about finding the best rice terrace views, I’m not talking about the over-commercialized tourist traps. I mean the real Ubud.

I’m talking about authentic, working fields where you’ll see local farmers zipping by on their scooters as they head to work. A magical mix of cultivated green fields, wild jungle backdrops, and those red-tiled roofs peeking through the palm trees

Through the fields are narrow paths lined with hidden warungs, local food stalls, and guest houses. Hidden among them are some extremely cute cafes, the kind of places where you can spend hours sipping your morning coffee under the Balinese sun or finding a cozy shelter when the tropical rain inevitably hits.

Most of my favorite cafes with rice terrace views in Ubud are tucked along the Sweet Orange Trail or the Sari Organic Walk, with a few gems scattered around the quieter, lesser-known fields of Penestanan. Honestly, no matter where you choose to stop, you can be sure the view will be nothing short of breathtaking.

1. Joglo Organik

📍 Sari Organic Walk

Right where all the stalls and homestays fade at the end of the Sari Organic Walk, just before you hit a charming pink-walled farm called the Rice Joglo, you’ll find Joglo Organik.

It’s a beautiful, open wooden structure designed for lingering. You can find a seat on their cozy pillows and low floor seats to find that front-row rice terrace view, or grab one of the high tables if you’re looking for a more stable workspace.

While I haven’t stayed for lunch yet, the morning atmosphere here is pure magic. When I arrive around 8:00 am, there are rarely more than a few people around, and the air is filled with the soft, meditative sounds of Indonesian spiritual music drifting from a nearby mixer. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to stay all morning.

It’s easily one of my favorite morning escapes because it’s far enough to escape the constant hum of noisy scooters. The silence here is a luxury.

My go-to order is usually one of their light smoothie bowls with a cappuccino. However, just this morning, I switched things up and tried their lime mint fresh juice, and I’m so glad I did. It’s incredibly crisp and exactly what you need after a humid morning walk. I highly recommend giving it a try!

2. Monkey Bar

📍 Sari Organic Walk

I passed by this tiny, beautifully decorated cafe so many mornings, yet hadn’t stopped for about two weeks. One morning, a cute orange cat appeared on the main table out front, and I took it as a sign to stop. Long story short, it became one of the places I fell in love with.

Not only because of the charming garden beside the main entrance or the extreme attention to detail, such as the small library and coconuts hanging from the roof, but also because I had one of the cheapest and most delicious fruit bowls (only 40K!), and the staff is particularly welcoming.

Monkey Bar overlooks a small irrigated field in front, and in the distance, you can see a sea of palm trees stretching endlessly.

The atmosphere is a bit less peaceful, mainly because it’s at the beginning of the Sari Organik walking trail, where more scooters are passing by. Still, it’s one of those places I’d absolutely recommend to a friend.

Looking for breakfast in Ubud with a view? I’ve put together a list of all my favorite cafés where you can enjoy your morning meal: smoothie bowls, eggs, vegan options, pastries, and the best coffee…you’ll find it all here.

3. Aldi’s Coffee & Eatery

📍 Jl. Kajen Rice Fields

Another underrated gem… I passed by Aldi’s many times, but since there was never anyone there, I didn’t stop until one morning.

What you can’t see from the walking trail is the lovely garden just below, on the other side of the restaurant, with chairs and small tables scattered around, tropical plants, and a cute fountain.

Since there’s hardly anyone around, especially in the morning, it’s a perfect spot to take some time for yourself, to write, journal, or even meditate.

This is one of my go-to breakfast spots. I love their pink smoothie bowl with granola (IDR 60K); it’s so filling! Their cappuccino always comes with a small cookie, which is such a nice surprise every time.

If you’re looking for a place to enjoy some alone time and work on your ideas with pen in hand and paper in front of you, this is your gem. Thank me later.

4. Pukako Panini & Coffee

📍 Sari Organik Walk

Pukako is definitely not a hidden gem (and there are two Pukakos in Ubud), and for good reason. It’s likely one of the best cafes to enjoy the rice terrace view on the Sari Walk. It’s located in the middle of the trail, surrounded by many other warungs, homestays, and yoga studios.

As you walk the path, the open area of the cafe appears on your right, offering beautiful views of the rice fields. In the morning, it is not as peaceful as some other spots due to the many tourists staying in the area, but it remains the perfect place for breakfast or getting some work done.

I’ve only had savory breakfast here, but their Healing Breakfast Bowl is definitely something I’ll return for. Breakfast dishes are all 60K, which is a very good deal!

Pukako is one of the best places to work from in Ubud: the wifi is great, there are plenty of charging stations, and the coffee is the best.

5. Sweet Orange Warung

📍Sweet Orange Trail (Juwuk Manis Walk)

Sweet Orange Warung actually saved me during one of those heavy June rainfalls. It’s located right at the beginning of the Juwuk Manis Walk if you’re coming from the main road, or just after the detour if you’re arriving from the Jl. Kajeng Art Market.

Since my first cappuccino with dadar gulung (the Indonesian pancake filled with brown sugar you absolutely have to try), I’ve come back here many times, especially for lunch.

It’s one of those lively, feel-good places where you’re surrounded by other travelers, the noise of chatters, and two lovely white cats snuggled up on the low chairs.

The food is delicious, of course — simply cooked and full of flavor (and very cheap). I usually go for the vegetarian options like gado gado or the tempeh and tofu dishes.

And the view… The warung overlooks a stunning, lush green garden, with violet flowers popping up between the leaves and the tallest palm trees rising in the background. It’s the kind of place that truly makes you smile at life.

6. Dragonfly Cafe

📍 Sari Organik Walk

I stopped by Dragonfly Café, drawn in by the lotus pond and the cobblestone path that welcomes you right at the entrance. The atmosphere of this place is…fairytale-like, as if pulled out of a storybook.

For some reason, this place reminds me of a treehouse — maybe because it’s completely surrounded by trees or because from the elevated main area you can see the rooftops of nearby villas and yoga studios.

The café is divided into three spaces: a small main indoor room, a small balcony with high stools and a counter, and an open-air terrace. While the view itself isn’t the most striking, the vibe is definitely one of the most unique — intimate and spiritual — I’ve found in Ubud.

I came here for breakfast and had the whole place to myself. You can enjoy free ginger and honey infusion (so good!), and the smoothie bowl (60K) was simple, healthy, and exactly what I needed that morning. I will definitely go back, maybe for lunch, to check out the vibe later in the day.

It’s good to know that all options on the menu are vegan and gluten-free.

7. Cafe Pomegranate

📍 Sari Organik Walk

If you’re looking for a cafe to work with a view, Cafe Pomegranate is definitely it. Every table has a charging station, and I’ve seen plenty of people working from there during my afternoon walks.

I actually tried heading there for breakfast many times, but it opens kind of late, so I ended up having lunch instead. The menu didn’t really blow me away — the options aren’t as exciting as other cafés in Ubud — so I went for a taco bowl in the end.

To be honest, I wouldn’t go back for the food. But an afternoon cappuccino with my laptop and a green sea of rice fields in front of me? That’s definitely a yes for me!

Pomegranate Café probably has the best view of all ( that’s what made me so keen on trying it), and I think they know it, considering how little effort they put into the menu.

8. Yellow Flower Cafe

📍 Penestanan

Last, but absolutely not least…Yellow Flower Cafe is likely my favorite café in Ubud (up to date at least), and not because of the views.

While you can get lucky and snag one of the three terrace tables overlooking the rice fields, most of the seating is on the other side, where you only get a glimpse of the surrounding greenery.

But what makes this place truly special is its charm. It’s easily the cutest café I’ve been to: boho and hippie décor, colorful cushions, wooden tables and chairs, and cozy, low-set seating areas.

The space is divided into two sections — a smaller, more intimate room, and a larger one that also hosts a small jewelry market.

The food here is 100% organic, and everything is grown on-site. You can actually smell the coconut oil in the air, which they produce themselves and it fits perfectly with the new-age, earthy vibe of the place.

The café is surrounded by yoga studios and villas, so it’s mostly frequented by teachers and practitioners, which helps preserve its peaceful, spiritual atmosphere.

If you’re looking for recommendations: Try the tempeh tempura (listed as a starter, but it’s a big portion!), the Island Bowl if you’re looking for something light, full of fresh, local veggies and the coconut crumble if you’re craving something sweet — served inside a coconut with banana and nut crumble. It’s so good!

9. WYAH Art & Creative Space

Okay, I’ll be honest: I’m cheating a little with this one. This isn’t a spot I hit on my daily morning walks, but since we’re talking about insane views, it felt right to include it in the list.

WYAH Art & Creative Space is located about 30 minutes outside of Ubud by scooter. It’s a bit of a trek, but if you’re looking for a different scenery for your deep work session or need to find inspiration, this is the spot.

WYAH Art and creative space in Ubud has one of the best views over the jungle.

It’s a great café for both breakfast and lunch, but the wooden, open-dome structures are what truly steal the show.

They feel like high-design treehouses, gifting you with the most breathtaking views over Ubud’s thick, emerald jungle. I went for a classic, delicious Nasi Goreng, but I really needed a sweet treat that day, and their almond croissant and cappuccino were the perfect post-lunch finale.

10. Uma Coffee Ubud

And finally, the true hidden gem.

The kind of place you only stumble upon when you’ve stopped looking and are just soaking in the insane beauty of the Penestanan rice fields. I

t’s pretty far from the center and honestly far from everything, but that’s exactly why I love it. It’s the reward for venturing deep into my favorite part of town.

Uma coffee is one of my favorite cafe with rice field views in Ubud

This tiny café is literally surrounded by nothing but rice fields. It’s the perfect spot to hide away if you need to read, journal, or just have a long overdue chat with a friend.

The menu isn’t massive, but they’ve got the essentials: Indonesian specialties, great coffee, fresh juices, and these huge almond croissants that made my mouth water every time I walked past.

Finding this place feels like a little gift from the universe, and since you made it all the way to the end of this post, I’m gifting the secret to you. Enjoy the quiet.
