One-Day Wellness Retreat at Solana Bali: A Slow Yoga Escape in Ubud

Last Updated on January 21, 2026

We all need a day off while traveling (at least I do). A day to reconnect with our bodies and slow down after days of running around, hiking, waterfall hopping, temple sightseeing, and all the incredible activities the island of Bali has to offer.

That’s the gift I gave myself on a sunny December Sunday. In this article, I’ll share why this one-day wellness retreat at Solana Bali is an experience truly worth trying if you’re planning a slow day on your Bali itinerary. You’ll find all the practical information you need to book your retreat, what’s included, and what to expect.

One-day wellness retreat at solana bali is one of the best experiences to try if that's your first time in Ubud

You may think that packing your itinerary will make your experience richer, but the opposite is actually true. Taking the time to pause and reflect on what you’re experiencing may be what truly helps you appreciate the value of your trip and remember every single detail.

And if you happen to be in Ubud, a one-day yoga retreat is the perfect place to do that. Unbelievably peaceful (even for a wellness retreat), Solana offers the stillness and silence you may crave during an exciting yet extremely busy vacation.

Why Choose a One-Day Wellness Retreat at Solana Bali, in Ubud

That first trip to Bali is usually filled with wonder, beauty, nature (and often a bit of rain). Another common ingredient is rush (at least, it was for me).

Moving quickly from one place to another, waking up at the crack of dawn to avoid traffic as much as possible (though never completely), and trying to squeeze as many experiences as possible into a two-week itinerary. Does it feel like you?

Ubud, in particular, can feel intense, almost like a whirlwind, as one of my friends once described it. While it’s one of the richest areas on the island in terms of culture and spirituality, it’s also among the busiest and most traffic-heavy, depending on the season.

That’s why, after living for months right in the heart of Ubud, I felt the need for a one day off from it (just one day, because I truly love this town). And it’s probably what you may need too.

We often think that squeezing in one more sight or adding another stop will make our itinerary richer, but in reality, the opposite is often true.

Slowing down gives us the space to reflect on what we’ve experienced: the places we’ve seen, the people we’ve met, and everything in between.

And in Bali, slowing down doesn’t feel like stepping away from the culture; it feels like stepping into it. Taking a one-day wellness retreat in Ubud can be a meaningful part of the Bali experience itself, not a pause from it.

Solana Wellness Retreat: A Peaceful Jungle Sanctuary Near Ubud

I had been wanting to visit Solana for months, yet I kept telling myself that traveling to other locations would be a better use of my time, until that sunny Sunday in December.

Solana is an intimate luxury wellness retreat and a hidden sanctuary surrounded by jungle, located about 5 km from the center of Ubud. It offers a variety of experiences, ranging from a simple one-day wellness retreat to longer, fully customized signature programs.

What impressed me the most upon arrival was the beautiful harmony of natural colors: the warm bamboo of the main structure and bungalows, the deep green of the surrounding jungle, and the soft light blue of the swimming pool.

I arrived just before 7 am; the scent of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, and the early sunlight gently illuminated the entire space. It felt magical from the very beginning.

Throughout the day, I was struck by how peaceful everything felt. At times, it seemed as if there were no guests at all, perhaps they were out sightseeing.

Most of the participants of the day retreat didn’t remain on-site all day, which made the experience feel incredibly intimate, almost as if the entire place was shared by just a handful of people.

My One-Day Wellness Retreat at Solana Bali: How the Day Unfolded

The day started with a hot cup of freshly brewed coffee with milk while watching the sun rise behind the jungle surrounding Solana.

The day retreat began with a slow yoga class by the pool, a gentle blend of Yin and Hatha yoga, taught by a lovely Indonesian teacher.

The class was absolutely perfect for beginners, with modifications offered for more experienced practitioners. I know 7 am may sound early, but there’s truly no better way to feel restored than starting the day with a slow morning yoga practice, especially with that view.

After the yoga class, I headed straight for a refreshing dip in the swimming pool (at least I did, it was already scorching hot by 8 am), followed by a buffet breakfast. Chia pudding, granola, omelette, sweet potatoes, bread, fresh fruit, watermelon juice, everything tasted fresh and delicious.

Once breakfast was over (or after one or two extra rounds at the buffet), you’re free to enjoy the retreat at your own pace for the rest of the day. You can wander through the colorful tropical gardens or peek into the bungalows (maybe imagining yourself staying there on a future visit)

You can relax on the sun loungers by the pool, taking a refreshing dip whenever the sun becomes too intense, or head to the sauna and cold plunge area.

The sauna, in particular, has one of the most incredible views of the entire property, overlooking the river valley and the surrounding jungle.

Lunch is not included in the day retreat package; however, you can choose from a healthy on-site menu featuring salads, soups, and wraps. The atmosphere remained so calm and unhurried that, honestly, it felt like a pity to leave early.

You’re welcome to stay at the retreat for as long as you like. I personally left around 3 p.m., just as the sky started to darken. I wanted to make it home before the rain set in.

Who This One-Day Yoga Retreat in Ubud Is For (And Who It’s Not)

This one-day yoga retreat in Ubud is perfect for you if, first of all, you don’t mind waking up early to enjoy a deeply restorative morning yoga class surrounded by Ubud’s nature.

It’s also ideal if you’re looking to spend a relaxing day on your own or with friends, immersed in simplicity and tranquility.

On the other hand, this retreat may not be the best fit if you’re searching for a more spiritual or healing-focused retreat in Bali; there are other retreats better suited for that.

It’s also not ideal if you’re looking for a fully guided or structured program. Aside from the yoga class, there are no scheduled activities, and you’re free to enjoy the space at your own pace for the rest of the day.

If that’s what you’re looking for, you should check out the day retreat at Yoga Barn. You’ll be able to choose from 3 different classes throughout the day, enjoy a one-hour massage included in the package, and a healthy lunch plus fresh juice.

How to Book a One-Day Wellness Retreat at Solana Bali

To book your day retreat, head to Solana Bali. On the homepage, you’ll find the section “Escape to Solana for a Day” along with a contact button that will connect you to their WhatsApp number.

On WhatsApp, you can reserve your spot by providing your information and completing payment through a secure link. Note that your place is not confirmed until payment is received.

Day retreats at Solana fill up quickly, so I recommend booking at least three weeks in advance. This is not an experience you can typically book last-minute. I tried for my birthday, and of course, I was told there was no availability.

If you’re staying at Solana, you’ll have access to all the retreat’s facilities as part of your booking. Yoga classes will require an additional IDR 100,000.

Is Solana Worth It Compared to Other Wellness Retreats in Bali?

I usually know an experience is truly worth it when, while I’m living it, I catch myself thinking, “I should have done this sooner,” or “I’d do it again next week if I could.” So yes, it was absolutely worth it.

In terms of price and value, the one-day wellness retreat at Solana Bali is in line with other similar retreats, like Lumeria Yoga, for example. But what really sets it apart is the location.

Everything is designed to make you relax effortlessly: you don’t have to walk long distances to reach the restaurant, the pool, or the sauna. The retreat feels intimate, cozy, and above all, peaceful. The silence that surrounds you is what truly restores your body and mind.

On my way back home, riding my Grab scooter through Ubud, I felt lighter: my body restored, my mind clear, filled only with positive thoughts. I felt incredibly lucky for the perfect weather (which isn’t guaranteed during Bali’s rainy season) and ready to take on the new week ahead.

So, yes — if you’re looking for a one-day wellness experience in Ubud, a day retreat at Solana is perfect. It’s restorative and feels luxurious without emptying your wallet or taking too much time from an already packed Bali itinerary.

If needed, it can even be squeezed into half a day. Of course, the purpose of experiences like this is not to be rushed, but to be fully lived, felt, and carried home with you, along with the incredible waterfalls, temples, and beaches you’ll discover in Bali.
