My morning routine here in Ubud is very simple: wake up, get dressed, head out for my hot girl walk on one of my favorite rice field trails and (the best moment) stop by one of my favorite cafes with rice terrace views to have a delicious breakfast.
In Ubud, you can’t go wrong. Wherever you go, the quality of food is so high. Yes, you may find menus that are short on options and variety, or you might head to a cafe hoping to get some work done and realize their WiFi is meh.
That’s why I’m here. I will tell you all about the best cafes with rice terrace views in Ubud—to work, get inspired, or enjoy a delicious smoothie bowl —all with one thing in common: the most insane views over the rice paddies.

Where to Find The Best Rice Terraces Views?
When I refer to the best rice terrace views, I’m not talking about anything touristy. I’m talking about real rice terraces, where you might encounter so many farmers transporting their tools on scooters, back and forth.
Usually, the best rice views are where you can enjoy the sight of vast cultivated rice fields, often with the jungle in the background and the red roofs of houses peeking through the palms.

Between the fields are small paths lined with little warungs, food stalls, guest houses, and some extremely cute cafes, where you can sit, sipping your morning coffee and enjoying the morning sun, or finding shelter from the pouring rain that sometimes hits Ubud.
My favorite cafes with rice terrace views here in Ubud are located on the Kajeng rice fields or Juwuk Manis Walk, on the Sari Organic Walk, the Sweet Orange Trail, and some are scattered around lesser-known rice fields. Wherever you stop here, you can be sure the view will not disappoint.
1. Joglo Organik
📍 Sari Organic Walk
Right at the end of the path where all the stalls, homestays, and warungs end on the Sari Organic Walk, and just before a cute little pink-walled farm called the Rice Joglo, stands Joglo Organik.
This open wooden structure features cozy pillows and low seats to enjoy the unobstructed view of the rice terraces, along with more stable high tables.
I’ve never visited for lunch, but the morning atmosphere can only be described as inspiring. There’s usually a couple more people besides me around 8 am when I arrive, and slow Indonesian spiritual music fills the air from a nearby mixer.

It’s one of my favorite places in the morning because, being a bit further away, it lacks the usual back and forth of noisy scooters.
I usually have one of the light smoothie bowls (45-50K) and a cappuccino (35K). This morning, I tried their lime mint fresh juice, and it’s highly recommended.
2. Monkey Bar
📍 Sari Organic Walk
I passed by this tiny, beautifully decorated cafe so many mornings, yet hadn’t stopped for about two weeks. One morning, a cute orange cat appeared on the main table out front, and I took it as a sign to stop. Long story short, it became one of the places I fell in love with.
Not only because of the charming garden beside the main entrance or the extreme attention to detail, such as the small library and coconuts hanging from the roof, but also because I had one of the cheapest and most delicious fruit bowls (only 40K!), and the staff is particularly welcoming.

Monkey Bar overlooks a small irrigated field in front, and in the distance, you can see a sea of palm trees stretching endlessly.
The atmosphere is a bit less peaceful, but only because it’s at the beginning of the Sari Organik walking trail, with more scooters passing by. Still, it’s one of those places I’d absolutely recommend to a friend.

3. Aldi’s Coffee & Eatery
📍 Jl. Kajen Rice Fields
Another underrated gem… I passed by Aldi’s many times, and likely because there was never anyone there, I didn’t stop until one morning. What you can’t see from the walking trail is the lovely garden just below, on the other side of the restaurant, with chairs and small tables scattered around, tropical plants, and a cute fountain.
Since there’s hardly anyone around, especially in the morning, it’s a perfect spot to take some time for yourself—to write, journal, or even meditate. It was here that I got the idea for Notes from the Road, while taking in the views and fully embracing the calm and silence around me.

This is one of my go-to breakfast spots. I love their pink smoothie bowl with granola (IDR 60K); it’s so filling! Their cappuccino always comes with a small cookie, which is such a nice surprise every time.
If you’re looking for a place to enjoy some alone time and work on your ideas with pen in hand and paper in front of you, this is your gem. Thank me later.
4. Pukako Panini & Coffee
📍 Sari Organik Walk
Pukako is definitely not a hidden spot (and there are many Pukakos in Ubud), and for good reason—it’s likely one of the best cafes to enjoy an unobstructed rice terrace view on the Sari Walk. It’s located in the middle of the trail, surrounded by many other warungs, homestays, and yoga studios.
As you walk the path, the open area of the cafe appears on your right, offering beautiful views of the rice fields. In the morning, it is not as peaceful as some other spots due to the many visitors staying in the area, but it remains a lovely place for breakfast or getting some work done in the morning.

I’ve personally only had savory breakfast here, and their healing breakfast bowl is something I’ll definitely return for. Breakfast dishes are all 55K, which is a very good deal!
I’ve seen many people working here, so the WiFi must be good, even though I didn’t notice any charging stations. Actually, the afternoon here might be a great time to enjoy a more peaceful atmosphere while working over a cup of coffee.
5. Sweet Orange Warung
📍Sweet Orange Trail (Juwuk Manis Walk)
Sweet Orange Warung actually saved me during one of those heavy June rainfalls. It’s located right at the beginning of the Juwuk Manis Walk if you’re coming from the main road, or just after the detour if you’re arriving from the Jl. Kajeng Art Market.
Since my first cappuccino with dadar gulung (the Indonesian pancake filled with brown sugar you absolutely have to try), I’ve come back here many times, especially for lunch.
It’s one of those lively, feel-good places where you’re surrounded by other travelers, the noise of chatters and two lovely white cats snuggled up on the low chairs.

The food is delicious, of course — simply cooked and full of flavor (and very cheap). I usually go for the vegetarian options like gado gado, or the tempeh and tofu dishes.
And the view… The warung overlooks a stunning, lush green garden, with violet flowers popping up between the leaves and the tallest palm trees rising in the background. It’s the kind of place that truly makes you smile at life.
6. Dragonfly Cafe
📍 Sari Organik Walk
I stopped by Dragonfly Café, drawn in by the lotus pond and the cobblestone path that welcomes you right at the entrance. The atmosphere of this place is…fairytale-like, as if pulled out of a storybook.
For some reason, this place reminds me of a treehouse — maybe because it’s completely surrounded by trees or because from the elevated main area you can see the rooftops of nearby villas and yoga studios.

The café is divided into three spaces: a small main indoor room, a small balcony with high stools and a counter, and an open-air terrace. While the view itself isn’t the most striking, the vibe is definitely one of the most unique — intimate and spiritual — I’ve found in Ubud.
I came here for breakfast and had the whole place to myself. You can enjoy free ginger and honey infusion (so good!), and the smoothie bowl (60K) was simple, healthy, and exactly what I needed that morning. I will definitely go back, maybe for lunch, to check out the vibe later in the day.
Good to know is that all the options on the menu are vegan and gluten-free.
7. Cafe Pomegranate
📍 Sari Organik Walk
If you’re looking for a cafe to work with a view, Cafe Pomegranate is definitely it. Every table has a charging station, and I’ve seen plenty of people working from there during my afternoon walks.
I actually tried heading there for breakfast many times, but it opens kind of late, so I ended up having lunch instead. The menu didn’t really blow me away — the options aren’t as exciting as other cafés in Ubud — so I went for a taco bowl in the end.

To be honest, I wouldn’t go back for the food. But an afternoon cappuccino with my laptop and a green sea of rice fields in front of me? That’s definitely a yes for me!
Pomegranate Café probably has the best view of all ( that’s what made me so keen on trying it) and I think they know it, considering how little effort they put into the menu.
8. Yellow Flower Cafe
📍 Penestanan
Last, but absolutely not least…Yellow Flower Cafe is likely my favorite café in Ubud (up to date at least) and not because of the views. While you can get lucky and snag one of the three terrace tables overlooking the rice fields, most of the seating is on the other side, where you only get a glimpse of the surrounding greenery.
But what makes this place truly special is its charm. It’s easily the cutest café I’ve been to: boho and hippie décor, colorful cushions, wooden tables and chairs, and cozy, low-set seating areas.

The space is divided into two sections — a smaller, more intimate room, and a larger one that also hosts a small jewelry market.
The food here is 100% organic, and everything is grown on-site. You can actually smell the coconut oil in the air, which they produce themselves and it fits perfectly with the new-age, earthy vibe of the place.

The café is surrounded by yoga studios and villas, so it’s mostly frequented by teachers and practitioners, which helps preserve its peaceful, spiritual atmosphere.
If you’re looking for recommendations: Try the tempeh tempura (listed as a starter, but it’s a big portion!), the Island Bowl if you’re looking for something light, full of fresh, local veggies and the coconut crumble if you’re craving something sweet — served inside a coconut with banana and nut crumble. It’s so good!
There you go — these are my favorite 8 cafés with rice terrace views in Ubud, each one special in its own way.
Find Them All Below
Make sure to take notes and try a few during your time here — you won’t regret it. Especially because all of them are far from the traffic and noise… seriously, do yourself a favor and don’t have breakfast on the main busy road. Take care of your ears — at least early in the morning.
And if any of you have been to Ubud recently and discovered a new café I have to check out, let me know in the comments— I’m always happy to explore new spots!
